It’s Christmas Eve

2006 • Posted by Kai @ 8:38 PM

Yes, It’s Christmas Eve. I hope everybody have wonderfull holidays.

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

Audi TT Computer Rendering

2006 • Posted by Kai @ 5:39 PM

This Audi TT computer rendering is one of my favorite art work that I done about two and a half years ago. It’s kind of challenging myself to see what can I do with Form•Z (a 3D computer program). The cars are both modeled and rendered in Form•Z, not Adobe Photoshop work or any kind post process.

Christmas is coming, everybody is preparing for this most important holiday of the year. I took this picture from a pre-Christmas party that people are celebrating with a band, which from South America (not really sure, sounds like). Also I went for testing my new toy, Nikon SB-800 flash, it works quite well.

This is the demonstration of the final product climbing down the wall. Using steel wire to spin the axis of rotation, which makes the structure start walking.

Design Phase 3

2006 • Posted by Kai @ 1:56 PM

This would be the final design of my walking creature, although I understand that this is not the perfect design. Actually there was no perfect design, like architecture it never finish. I added wings on this creature, so when it walks the wings spread too. I want people focus on its movement and the relationship between articulations rather than make it looks like something. The battery motor is no longer need either because I want to keep simple. The next step is start to build it.

Simple Geometric Form

2006 • Posted by Kai @ 4:19 PM

I was too punctilious to make this walking creature to become something, I finally realized it should not like something, it could simply just being a walking object. I redesigned the shape of this object no longer a spider, and back to the simple geometric form. The most important thing is how the mechanical system works and how I design the joints and articulations, rather than make it looks like something. Although the robotic spider I designed had cool-looking, but it is not the top level of the design hierarchy in this project.

This foam-core model probably the last experiment I’ve done before I move on to final. I figured out the mechanism of the wing and it works, I hope the final product will work like this as well.
