Wang’s Nearly Perfect Game

2007 • Posted by Kai @ 6:12 PM

Chien-Ming Wang is one of my favorite pitchers in MLB. He was in Yankees disable list at the beginning of the season, and missed the Yankees’ opening game that he supposed to pitch. Today is his third game in this season, and he performed a nearly perfect game. Wang retired the first 22 Mariners batters he faced until Ben Broussard broke up the right-hander’s chances for perfection, slugging a home run to right-center field.

Although he didn’t make the third regular-season perfect game in Yankees history, Wang still settled for eight innings of one-run, two-hit ball in his first victory of the season, an 8-1 win over the Seattle Mariners, with a well-earned standing ovation and a series of dugout handshakes serving as a consolation prize. Good job Wang!
