Song Sparrow

2009 • Posted by Kai @ 7:20 PM

“The Song Sparrow, Melospiza melodia, is a medium-sized American sparrow. The male of this species uses its melodious and fairly complex song to declare ownership of its territory and to attract females. Their song consists of a combination of repeated notes, quickly passing isolated notes, and trills. The songs are very crisp, clear, and precise, making them easily distinguishable by human ears.”

Tree Swallow

2009 • Posted by Kai @ 7:01 PM

It is really hard to take the swallow flying pictures. I took a whole bunch only few of them were successful.

“Tree Swallow, Tachycineta bicolor, is a migratory passerine bird that breeds in North America and winters in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. It is a very rare vagrant to western Europe. This swallow averages 13.5 cm (5 inches) long and weighs about 20 g. The bill is tiny. The adult Tree Swallow has iridescent blue-green upperparts, white underparts, and a very slightly forked tail. The female usually has duller colours than the male, often more greenish than the more bluish male. The juvenile plumage is dull grey-brown above and may have hint of a gray breast band.”
